Cookery is an important part of any culture. For our students, in its turn, it is a great opportunity to speak Russian informally and spend free time in a pleasant company doing something useful.
On August 1, students and teachers from the School of Russian as a foreign language “Leader” visited a workshop in the culinary school “О еде” (“About food”) dedicated to traditional food. Foreigners improved their skills in cooking borsch – not the ordinary one, but from sea buckthorns! – and dumplings with pork and chicken. Chief cook Olga Podolyanskaya helped the students with this task.
Both students and teachers appreciated the cooked meals. Some of the students even took the food away with them!
This workshop turned out to be the perfect practice of the Russian language and also introduced them to the Slavic cuisine which is famous for its diverse recipes.
