Lesson 10. Hard consonant letters and sounds

This video lesson continues the series “Learning to Read Russian”. Today you will learn hard consonant letters and sounds of the Russian alphabet. The rule: if a consonant letter is followed by a hard vowel sound (а, о, у, э, ы), then the consonant sounds hard too. In addition, you will repeat the words you have already learned, and learn new ones, in which consonant and vowel sounds sound hard.

The vocabulary for this lesson:

  • бар / bar;
  • доктор / doctor;
  • дантист / dentist;
  • журналист / journalist;
  • хот-дог / hot-dog;
  • старт / start;
  • факт / fact.
