We continue to study the nouns cases in the Russian language. This lesson is about the genitive case (short for P. C.) of words that indicate your origin. Additionally, you will continue to study the topic Откуда ты?. Where are you from?
– Hi, my name is Masha. I am из России.
– Hi, Masha. Nice to meet you. And we are John and Henry.
– John, ты откуда– Я из Швейцарии.

Endings in the genitive will change according to the following rules:

– in m. g. -й, -ь → -ya – Китай → из Китая;
– in feminine -a → -ы – Москва → из Москвы;
– in feminine -ии → -ia – Франция → из Франции, Россия → из России;
