Lesson 40. Masculine and feminine nouns with Ь

In this lesson, you are continuing to learn about nouns in the Russian language. The focus today is on masculine (он мой) (he is mine) and feminine (она моя) (she is mine) nouns ending in a soft sign (Ь).

The vocabulary for this lesson

Masculine nouns: строитель builder, преподаватель teacher, телохранитель bodyguard, писатель writer, словарь wordsmith, секретарь secretary, библиотекарь librarian, пекарь baker.

Feminine nouns: юность youth, мудрость wisdom, старость old age, любовь love, морковь carrot, кровать bed, мать mother, площадь square, тетрадь notebook.

Hint: The letters in the b front will help you determine if it is feminine or masculine. In the masculine, it is -тель, -арь. In the feminine, it is -ость, -овь, -ать, -адь.
