Lesson 45. Use of the word "есть"

In this lesson, you will learn a new grammatical construction with the word “есть”. You will also learn the personal pronouns genitive case.

Note the word order in this sentence: preposition “у” + personal pronoun in genitive case (who) + verb “is” + noun in nominative case (что есть?).

Do you have a brother? — Да, у меня (genitive case) есть брат (nominative case).

Do you have a son? — Да, у нас (genitive case) есть сын (nominative case).

Personal pronouns in the genitive case: I я → у меня, ты → у тебя, он → у него, она → у нее, вы → у вас, мы → у нас, они → у них.
У меняесть семья.
У тебяесть деньги.
У негоесть работа.
У нееесть собака.
У насесть машина.
У васесть время.
У них есть семья.
