In this lesson, you will learn how nouns change in the prepositional and genitive cases when there is an indication of place. You will also repeat vocabulary from previous lessons on ‘”Откуда вы” “Where are you from”?
(Я живу в Москве) I live in Moscow – the noun “Москва” is in the prepositional case and answers the question Москва “Moscow?”
(Я из Англии) I am from England-the noun “England” in this sentence is in the genitive case, answering the question “откуда” from where?
Endings in the prepositional case will change according to the following rules:
– In the masculine after a consonant sound → consonant + the ending -e – London → in Лондоне;
– In the masculine after -й, -ь → only the ending -e – Китай → in Китае;
– In the feminine, after -а, -я → only the ending -e – Москва → in Москве;
– In the feminine, after -ия → -ии – Россия → in России Russia;
– In the Feminine after -ь → – Сибирь→ in Сибири..
